Responsible for coordinating and supervising the work within own gang ensuring that all work is carried out safely and to programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and promote safe working within the gang in line with the Three Pillars:
- Ensure all works are carried out in line with approved method statements.
- Discuss any changes or amendments to method statements with the site supervisor and management of change, (if work changes, then RAMS is to be reviewed, and the new method of work is to be reviewed and agreed upon with all site management & team members, and team re-briefed
- Checks on all plant and equipment
- Ensure a safe place of work, (paying particular attention to hazard spotting and changes to work areas)
- Planning of work activities (Ganger to be invited to, and to attend weekly planning/look ahead meetings)
- Lead by example
- Must not leave the gang unsupervised, if the need to leave arises, stop the work and contact the Foreperson
- Ensure that while at work our people work to the Barhale Values and respect the public and their surroundings
Ensure the completion of work is on time:
- Implement best practice procedures within the gang
- Share and pass on knowledge to others
- Understand teams’ strengths and weaknesses
- Ensure all permits are in place and signed before work commences, (this also includes the safe closing out of the permits)
Forward planning on equipment and material needs:
- Communicate with the site supervisor regarding equipment and material needs at an early stage
- Feedback to site management on any plant is no longer required.
- Ensure a safe system of work used on the unloading of any plant or materials.
Key measures and targets:
Safely deliver their section of work on time and snag-free
