Integrated Operational Solutions (I0S) Alliance – part of the Anglian Water network, was established in 2015 to focus on water recycling and water treatment solutions, particularly maintenance and refurbishment of existing assets. It is managed by our industry partners Barhale, Kier and Morrisons construction groups, together with Anglian Water.
In the IOS Ruthamford region (covering Rutland, Northampton & Bedford) working with Barhale, we are looking for talented Design Engineers specializing in process, mechanical & civil engineering. It is an exciting opportunity to join a new team as we begin Year 5 of AMP7 and prepare for AMP8, we have many interesting and challenging projects to complete!
What will you be doing as our new Design Engineer?
As our new Design Engineer, you’ll work in collaboration with fellow team members and with the Project Engineers to complete mechanical & civil design solutions which optimise plant performance, using innovative designs that comply with Anglian Water engineering design standards.
Key responsibilities:
The Design Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical and civil design of water and wastewater treatment plant solutions e.g., design of new pumping systems, sludge dewatering equipment and pipeline sizing & arranging.
- Prepare and analyse key design options, for review and agreement with the Project Engineer and the client. Ensuring risks and gaps are mitigated whilst always upholding the Project Basis of Design.
- Design calculations facilitating the sizing of mechanical, hydraulic, and building services equipment.
- Oversee the outputs for several processes including P&IDs and datasheets, working with the Principal Designer to develop new solutions.
- Conduct engineering evaluations (with field inspections) and feasibility studies for water and wastewater projects, analysing data and identifying potential issues or improvements.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers and the Anglian Water Environmental Science Team to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Escalate issues that may impact on time/cost/quality before they become a problem or exceed agreed timescales.
- Support the drive towards excellence in H&S, demonstrating applied knowledge and skills to produce safe designs to discharge your obligation according to CDM Regulations, standards, and accepted codes of practice.
