Fabricator
The Role:
The Fabricator/Welder is responsible for the manufacture of medium to heavy, temporary and permanent fabrication structures. Working from drawings supplied by the office team, and working to company process.
Complete audits as requested and contribute to the annual stock check.
Working as part of the fabrications operations team and providing full operational support to all areas of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational
- Receive drawings from the office team, discuss and agree production timescales.
- Cut, tack, weld and drill materials as specified on controlled documents supplied, and manufacture within tolerances specified on drawings.
- Manufacture using materials as specified on material lists, all stock used must be documented on material lists for traceability, confirming cast numbers as required.
- Complete workshop checklists during production.
- Destroy all drawings where revisions are issued and originals are superseded.
- Provide on site installation support where required.
Other Duties
- Assist with the goods in process by unloading deliveries, checking materials received against supplier documentation.
- Ensure all deliveries specify order numbers and material certificates have been supplied. Handover all paperwork to the office and confirm receipt of delivery.
- Operate the overhead crane for workshop activities.
Commercial
- Produce timesheets daily detailing all working hours and relevant job numbers.
- Maintain accurate stock levels by utilising stock only when specified on material lists.
- Report stock issues and highlight where customer orders could potentially be delayed.
- Complete stock audits as requested, feeding back to the Quality Team.
- Support the business during annual stock checks.
Quality
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by providing suggestions and feedback to Team Leaders and Management.
- Work to agreed timescales updating the office team on progress.
- Maintain good communication with the office team and Management at all times.
- All finished goods are to be wrapped, banded and packaged as per delivery method.
- Complete WPS checks on team members work.
HSEQ
- Complete tasks in accordance with risk assessments, notify the Team Leader of any potential noncompliance.
- Report accidents and Positive Interventions using the correct methods.
- Ensure the correct PPE is used in the depots at all times.
- Maintain excellent levels of housekeeping, ensure areas are free from waste and trip hazards etc.
- Identify/Submit positive interventions where needed.
- Work in conjunction with HSEQ policies and procedures.

Person Specification:
The successful candidate is likely to meet all of the following criteria:
Essential
- Experience in medium to heavy fabrications and welding procedures – NVQ or equivalent
- Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
- Ability to work well within a team, offering support to others
- CSCS Card
- Experience operating an overhead crane
- Qualified to use plasma/oxy cutting equipment
Desirable
- Site work experience
- Forklift licence
- Driving licence
